To be able to work with this tutorial you need to have a user with editor permission and another user with viewer permission.

Let's see how we can create two users with the latter mentioned permissions:

Step 1 - Create two user roles

  1. Sign into the Dashboard Server (DS) Management Console.

    • For access via HTTP: 
      http://<DS_HTTP_HOST>:<HTTP_PORT>/admin/carbon/
    • For access via secured HTTP: 
      https://<DS_HTTPS_HOST>:<HTTPS_PORT>/admin/carbon/
    • Example:
      http://localhost:9763/admin/carbon/ 
  2. Enter admin as the username and password, and click Sign in.
  3. Click Main and click Add which appears under the

  1. On the Main tab, click Add under Users and Roles.

  2. Click Add New Role.

  3. Enter the required details as follows:
    1. Domain - Select the user store to which you want to add the user role. Select Primary to use the primary user store for this tutorial.
    2. Role Name - Enter a unique name for the user role.

      The user roles should be named as follows: dashboardEditorRole and dashboardViewerRole

  4. Click Finish.

  5. Repeat steps 3 to 6 to add the other user role.

Step 2 - Create two users

  1. Sign into the Dashboard Server (DS) Management Console.

  2. On the Main tab, click Add under Users and Roles.
