The Lifecycle Management(LCM) acts a major role in SOA Governance. The default LCM supported by WSO2 Governance Registry allows users to promote and demote the lifecycle states of a given resource. Furthermore, it can be configured to use checklists as well.

New lifecycles can be added, while existing lifecycles can be edited or deleted.

For information on how to assign multiple lifecycles to a resource and define checkpoints for lifecycle states, see the sections below: 

Viewing attached lifecycles

You can view the lifecycle(s) that is(are) attached to an asset. For example, follow the steps below to view the lifecycle(s) that is(are) attached to a SOAP Service.

  1. Log in to the Management Console using admin/admin credentials, and the following URL: https://<G-REG_HOST>:<G-REG_PORT>/carbon/
  2. Click Main, and then click Soap Services in the List menu under Metadata as shown below.

  3. Click the Service Version of the SOAP Service, whose attached lifecycle(s) you want to view as shown below.

    You view the lifecycle(s) that are already attached to the selected SOAP service in the Attached Life-Cycles drop down list under the  Lifecycle section as shown below.

Adding a lifecycle 

You can add or assign a lifecycle to an asset. For example, follow the steps below to add a lifecycle to a Schema asset.

  1. Log in to the Management Console using admin/admin credentials, and the following URL: https://<G-REG_HOST>:<G-REG_PORT>/carbon/
  2. Click Main, and then click Schemas in the List menu under Metadata as shown below.

  3. Click the Name of the SOAP Service, whose attached lifecycle(s) you want to view as shown below.

  4. Expand the Lifecycle section, and select the lifecycle that you want to add from the drop down list given under Enable Lifecycle as shown below.

  5. Click the Add button as shown below.

    You view details of the lifecycle you added in the Attached Life-Cycles section as shown below.

Deleting a lifecycle

  1. Browse to the lifecycle that you want to delete and click the Delete icon.
     
  2. Click Yes on the confirmation message that appears.
