Administrators or device owners need to have the dashboard view permission to access the device statistics dashboard. The admin user created by default in WSO2 IoTS has the permission to access the device statistics dashboard.

Take a look at the steps given below to enable the required permissions to access the device statistics dashboard:

Step 1: Update permissions via the WSO2 device management console

  1. Access the device management console and login via your user credentials: https://<IoTS_HOST>:9443/devicemgt

Only administrators having the role management permissions can update the permissions of a role. For more information on adding a role and providing the required permissions, see Adding a Role and Permissions.

  2. Click the menu icon, and then click USER MANAGEMENT > ROLES.
  3. Click Edit Permissions on the role you want to give access to the device statistics dashboard.
  4. Select the dashboard view permissions.
  5. Click Update Role Permissions.

Step 2: Update permissions via the device statistics dashboard

  1. Access the device statistics dashboard by clicking the menu icon and then clicking DEVICE STATISTICS.
  2. Click the user icon, and click Dashboard Settings.
    Example:
  3. Click SETTINGS in the top-left corner.
  4. The admin user that is created in WSO2 IoTS by default is given all the required permissions to access and edit the device statistics dashboard.
Similarly, define the user roles to whom you want to give permission to access or make changes to the device statistics dashboard accordingly.
    For example:

    • Viewers: The users that have the roles defined here are able to access the device statistics dashboard and view the content.
    • Editors: The users that have the roles defined here are able to edit the look and feel and customize the device statistics dashboard.
    • Owners: The users that have the roles defined here are able to edit the settings, such as defining roles under permissions, and delete the dashboard.
  5. Click Save.

What's next?

You have now completed enabling the specified role permissions for users to access the device statistics dashboard. The users that belong to the specified roles are now able to monitor devices via the dashboard.
