Monitoring Logs using BAM
WSO2 has now developed WSO2 DAS (Data Analytics Server) for data monitoring, which is a new and advanced version of the BAM (Business Activity Monitoring) tool. However, take note that the following instructions on monitoring logs is only applicable when you use WSO2 BAM as the monitoring tool for your product. The possibility to use DAS for monitoring logs of other WSO2 products will be available with the next DAS release.
The WSO2 logging feature, which is available for all WSO2 products, allows you to manage logging related operations using the management console. Additionally, WSO2 BAM is a separate WSO2 product, which you can use to further enhance the monitoring of logs from all servers in your production environment.
The main advantage of using BAM is that it provides a centralised log management feature, which can simultaneously maintain and monitor logs from multiple servers. For example, consider a production environment where you have 13 different types of servers running in production and each of these servers are clustered and load balanced across 50+ servers. In such a scenario, it is impractical for system administrators to log into each server to discover the cause of a particular error. To handle such scenarios, you can configure all your servers to publish logs to BAM, so that you can later use the advanced monitoring capabilities in BAM and CEP to analyse the logs.
