What is new in this release

WSO2 Carbon 4.4.0 is the successor of Carbon 4.3.0. This release includes the following features:

  • Java7/Java8 support - The new kernel can now be compiled and run on both Java7 and Java8. See the installation prerequisites.
  • Tomcat upgrade - Tomcat is upgraded to version 7.0.59. 
  • Tenant Eager Loading - WSO2 Carbon Kernel can now be configured to load a specified set of tenants when the server starts.

Removed functionality and features

The caching implementation based on EHcache has been removed from Carbon 4.4.x versions. This is due to issues related to distributed caching in EHcache. We have moved to a hazelcast-based caching implementation in Carbon 4.4.x , which we officially support. 

If you still want to use EHcache in Carbon 4.4.x products, you can manually add the EHCache JAR (which is a third party JAR) to the <CARBON_HOME>/repository/components/plugins directory.
