Sample 1 - Inter-gadget Communication

Let's see how to work with the inter-gadget communication related sample. 

Step 1 - Deploy the sample dashboard

Run the wso2ds-samples script, which corresponds to your OS, to automatically copy the related sample files into the necessary directories, and execute the corresponding start-up script (wso2server.sh/wso2server.bat) to deploy the inter-gadget communication sample. The sample number for this dashboard is ‘1’.

Step 2 - View the Dashboard

Follow the instructions below to view the gadgets that are inter-connected using inter-gadget communication:

1. Access the Dashboard Designer via one of the following URLs.
   
   • For access via HTTP: 
http://<DS_HTTP_HOST>:<HTTP_PORT>/portal/ 
   • For access via secured HTTP: 
     https://<DS_HTTPS_HOST>:<HTTPS_PORT>/portal/ 
   • Example:
     http://localhost:9763/portal/ 
2. Enter admin as the username and password, and click Login.
   The dashboard list view appears with the inter-gadget enabled dashboard as shown below. 
   
3. Click View. The inter-gadget communication enabled dashboard appears.
   
4. Type a message in the publisher text-box and click Publish.
   The message that you entered appears in the Subscriber window as shown below.
    
5. Click Auto. Auto generated messages get printed in the Subscriber window as shown below.
