An organization's data exposed as a service, decoupled from the infrastructure where it is stored, is called data services in service oriented architecture (SOA).
WSO2 Data Services Server facilitates the SOA development efforts by providing a simple, easy-to-use platform for,

Data Services provide a convenient mechanism to configure a Web service interface for data in various data sources such as relational databases, CSV files, Microsoft Excel sheets, Google spread sheets etc. These data services provide unprecedented data access and straightforward integration with business processes, mashups, gadgets, business intelligence and mobile applications. You can expose and access data in a secured (using WS-Security) and reliable (using WS-ReliableMessaging) manner, and is also available for mash-ups with other Web services.
The WSO2 Data Services Server is enterprise-ready, lean, 100% open source, cloud-enabled and multi-tenanted. It is delivered with Apache license 2.0, which is one of the most business-friendly licenses available today. It is built on top of the award-winning WSO2 Carbon platform and inherits its cutting edge middleware capabilities.
