About this Release

WSO2 Enterprise Integrator (WSO2 EI) version 6.3.0 is the next level of the ESB, which provides a powerful solution for integrating systems. This brings together the functionalities encapsulated in the following WSO2 products:

• WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
• WSO2 Data Services Server (DSS)
• WSO2 Business Process Server (BPS)
• WSO2 Message Broker (MB)

The features of the above products are encapsulated in WSO2 EI as separate runtimes (profiles). These profiles (which includes developer tooling, and analytics) are listed below. WSO2 EI version 6.3.0 is the successor of version 6.2.0. 

• ESB profile: Consists of WSO2 ESB and WSO2 DSS. 
• Micro Integrator profile: Consists of WSO2 ESB and WSO2 DSS. 
• Business Process profile: Consists of WSO2 BPS for handling long-running business processes. 
• Message Broker profile: Consists of WSO2 MB for message brokering and reliable messaging. 
• MSF4J profile: Provides the capability of creating microservices in Java to facilitate your integration use cases.
• Analytics profile: Provides the capability of monitoring statistics of integration flows (processed in the ESB runtime) as well as business process (processed in the Business Process runtime).

What's new in this release

WSO2 EI 6.3.0 is a major release that is shipped with the features explained below.

Introducing the Micro Integrator profile

In comparison with the conventional ESB profile, the start-up time of the Micro Integrator profile is considerably less, which makes it container-friendly. Thus, it is ideal for microservices in a container-based environment. Almost all the important features that are available in the ESB profile are available in the Micro Integrator profile as well. The database-based registry is not available in the Micro Integrator profile. Instead, it has a file system-based registry, which provides the same functionality.

The below features of the conventional ESB profile are removed from the Micro Integrator profile because they are not required for a deployment based on a Microservices Architecture (MSA).

• The Management Console

• Support for multiple tenants in a single virtual machine

• SVN-based deployment synchronization

• Hot deployment for CAR files and Synapse artifacts

• Built-in Hazelcast-based clustering and task coordination

Also, currently, the Micro Integrator profile will entail the following limitations.

• You will not be able to apply security to proxy services.
• You will not be able to secure passwords in Synapse configurations using Secure Vault.
• You will not be able to work with user stores.

Improving WSO2 EI Tooling

WSO2 EI Tooling 6.3.0 is released on top of Eclipse Oxygen, which is the latest Eclipse release. This version of WSO2 EI Tooling includes platform-level improvements, UI improvements, and bug fixes on the existing functionalities etc. WSO2 EI Tooling 6.3.0 is faster, better and much easier for you to create and manage artifacts.

Compatible WSO2 product versions

For information on the Carbon platform version and Carbon Kernel version of WSO2 EI 6.3.0, see the Release Matrix. All WSO2 products that are based on a specific Carbon Kernel version are expected to be compatible with each other. If you come across any compatibility issues, contact team WSO2.
