Registering with Google Cloud Messaging

Follow the instructions below to register with Google Cloud Messaging (GCM):

• Step 1 - Create an APIs project
• Step 2 - Create a server key
• Step 3 - Retrieve the Sender ID

Step 1 - Create an APIs project

1. Go to the Google API Console.
2. Click Create a project  that is under Select a project.
   

3. Provide a preferred name for the project (example: EMM-GCM), select Yes if you wish to receive email updates, accept the terms and service, and click Create.

   You must select either Yes or No under receiving the email updates to enable the Create button.

   
   The new project will be created within few seconds and shown on the dashboard.

   

Step 2 - Create a server key

1. Navigate to the Google Developer Console Dashboard.

2. Click Enable and manage APIs.

   

3. Click Cloud Messaging for Android that is under Mobile APIs.
   

4. Click Enable API. 
   
5. Click Go to credentials to create the credentials.
   
6. Click Add credentials and select API key.
   
7. Select the preferred option to generate the API key. In this instance click Server key.
   
8. Provide the server address and click Create.
   The server key that gets created for server applications will be displayed.
   You need to copy and keep the server API key, as it will be used later in the EMM Android platform configurations when configuring the GCM notifier type.
   

Step 3 - Retrieve the Sender ID

Navigate to the Google Developer Console Dashboard. Click on corresponding project number. This project number will be used as the sender ID when configuring the GCM notifier type in the EMM Android platform configurations.
