Both the Call activity and a Sub process will call a subprocess when process execution arrives at the activity. Call activity will refer an independent process that is external to the process definition where as the subprocess will be embedded in the original process definition.

The independent process in the call activity is a reusable process that can be called from multiple other process definitions.
