Operation Management

This feature is used to manage service operations. A service contains one or more operations.

Follow the instructions below to manage operations.

1. Log on to the Data Services Server Management Console.

2. Click the Main menu and select List under Web Services.

3. The Deployed Services page appears. Click on the service for which you want to activate reliable messaging.

4. The Service Dashboard page appears. Click Operations in the Quality of Service Configuration panel.

5. The Operations of Service page appears.

6. Click one operation to view its Operation Dashboard page. For example,

The following information is available in the dashboard:

  • Operation Details
  • Quality of Service Configuration Panel
  • Statistics

Operation Details

  • Operation Name: Name of the operation.
  • Service: The name of the Web service.
  • MTOM: The status of the SOAP Message Transmission Optimization for the operation. For more information, see MTOM.

Quality of Service Configuration Panel

The following actions are available for an operation.

Response Caching

Is used to configure response caching (see Response Caching for Services).

Access Throttling

Is used to configure access throttling for the selected operation (see Throttling for Services).

MTOM

SOAP Message Transmission Optimization Mechanism (MTOM) is a widely used mechanism for sending attachments with SOAP. By default, MTOM is set to optional. You can set it to True or False. (see MTOM for services)

Message Flows

Message Flows provide graphical or textual views of the globally engaged handlers in the system at a given time. (See Message Flows in Statistics section).

Modules

Engages modules for the selected operation (see Module Configurations for Services).

Parameters

Edit/delete operation for parameters (see Parameters for Services).

Statistics

The "Statistics" panel provides statistical information about an operation as follows.

  • Request Count
  • Response Count
  • Fault Count
  • Maximum Response Time
  • Minimum Response Time
  • Average Response Time

It also provides a graphical view of the system response time.
