About Data Services Server

Behind most application silos are heterogeneous data stores. Most businesses require secure and managed data access across these federated data stores, data service transactions, and data transformation and validation.

The WSO2 Data Services Server augments Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) development efforts by providing a simple, easy-to-use platform for integrating data stores, creating composite data views, and hosting data in disparate sources as WS-* style Web services or REST-style Web resources. Data services provide unprecedented data access and straightforward integration with business processes, mashups, gadgets, business intelligence and mobile applications.

The WSO2 Data Services Server is enterprise-ready, lean, 100% open source, cloud-enabled and multi-tenanted delivered with Apache license 2.0, one of the most business-friendly licenses available today. It is built on top of the award-winning WSO2 Carbon platform and inherits its cutting edge middleware capabilities.

The WSO2 Data Services Server is an on-going project. It undergoes continuous improvements and enhancements with each new release, to address new business challenges and customer expectations. WSO2 invites users, developers and enthusiasts to get involved or get the assistance from our development teams at many different levels through online forums, mailing lists and support options. What is new in this Release

The WSO2 Data Services Server version 3.0.0 is the successor of version 2.6.3 and based on Carbon 4.0.2. It has several new features, enhancements and defect fixes included in it. For a list of fixed defects in this release, refer to : WSO2 Data Services Server 3.0.0 - Fixed Issues.

New Features and Enhancements:

Capability to connect to an enhanced range of data sources from predefined or external RDBMS to customized data sources and service-enabling them.
SQL parser for tabular data models such as Excel and Google Spreadsheets with full read/write query support.
Capability to authenticate database users dynamically for each data service call.
Carbon secure vault integration to securely store sensitive data in configuration files.
Improvements in scheduled task feature.

Support for Java class implementations.
API for calling data services directly.
Transaction support enabled.

Enhanced filtering options through new application logs, which allow users to filter and view logs of selected applications. (Inherited from new and enhanced Carbon 4) .
Enhanced filtering options in features - Ability to group features by category when installing. (Inherited from new and enhanced Carbon 4).
Performance enhancements due to refactoring the Carbon context. (Inherited from new and enhanced Carbon 4).
New samples added : nested query writing, scraping web resources and exposing data as REST resources.
