Policy Management with MDM

The following sections describe the MDM aspect of policy management. For more information, see Policy Management

Adding a policy

Follow the instructions below to add a policy:

  1. On the Configurations tab in the MDM Console, click Policies.
  2. Click Add Policy.
     
  3. Enter a name for the policy.
  4. Select the action that has to be taken in the event an Android-powered device has not complied to a policy. EMM will always issue warnings to non-compliant iOS-powered devices. The following are the various compliance monitoring types:
    • Acknowledge - The non-compliance details will only appear in the MDM Console.
    • Warning - The non-compliance details will appear in the MDM Console and the end-user on Android-powered devices will immediately receive a pop-up warning message. This compliance monitoring type is not applicable for iOS-powered devices.
    • Enforce - The non-compliance details will appear in the MDM Console and the  policy will be automatically re-enforced on the end-user's device.
  5. Enter the criteria that should be added to the policy (for more information, see MDM Related Policy Settings).
  6. Click Save.

Assigning resources to a policy

Follow the instructions below to assign resources to a policy:

  1. On the  Configurations  tab in the MDM Console, click  Policies.
  2. Search for the policy and click View/Assign Resources in the Action column.
     
  3. Select the resource type from the Assign To drop-down list.
    • Roles - Ability to assign the policy to a group of users who have been assigned to a certain role.
    • Users - Ability to assign the policy to specific users.
    • Platform - Ability to assign the policy to all the users, with devices powered by the selected mobile OS.
  4. Select the resources, based on the resource type selected.
    All the resources relevant to the resource type selected, will be shown in the left-hand list. The selected resources will be shown in the right-hand list.
    • If you wish to specifically select one or more resources:
      Click on the resource name in the left-hand list. The selected resource will be moved to the right-hand list.
    • If you wish to add all the resources in the list, click → →
    • If you wish to remove resources from the selected list:
      Click on the resource name in the right-hand list. The selected resource will be moved to the left-hand list.
    • If you wish to remove all the selected resources, click ← ←
  5. Click Assign.

Editing a policy

Follow the instructions below to edit a policy:

  1. On the  Configurations  tab in the MDM Console, click  Policies.
  2. Search for the policy and click View/Edit in the Action column.
     
  3. Edit the policy criteria as required (for more information, see MDM Related Policy Settings).
  4. Click Save.

Enforcing a policy

Follow the instructions below to enforce a policy:

  1. On the  Configurations  tab in the MDM Console, click  Policies.
  2. Search for the policy and click Enforce in the Action column. The policy will be immediately enforced on the resources that have been assigned to the policy.

Deleting a policy

Follow the instructions below to delete a policy:

  1. On the  Configurations  tab in the MDM Console, click  Policies.
  2. Search for the policy and click Remove in the Action column.
  3. Click OK.
