Adding an Asset

The Enterprise Store, by default is shipped with the following two asset types: Gadgets and Sites. However, the Store Back Office (Publisher) empowers you to extend ES, by adding your own customized asset types. For more information, see Adding an Asset Type. In addition, you can also add new assets to the customized or default asset types in ES. The fields involved when adding customized assets will vary based on the nature of the asset. 

Follow the instructions below to add a new asset:

  1. Sign into the Store Back Office (Publisher).
  2. Click the asset type button.
  3. Click on the asset type you wish to add. For example, if you wish to add a gadget, click Gadgets.

  4. Click Add <Asset Type> based on the type you selected in step 3. For example, click Add Gadgets.

  5. Enter all the required fields respective to adding an asset. The fields will vary based on the selected asset type. All the fields respective to the default assets have been described as follows:

    OverviewProviderThis field is automatically filled in. It displays the username of the user who is adding the asset.
    NameThis is the name of the asset. A meaningful name should be provided.
    VersionThe version corresponding to the asset. This is useful to the user to differentiate between multiple versions of an asset.
    CategoryCategories are high level groupings of the assets. An asset can have only one category.
    URLThe URL of the location where the site/gadget has been hosted.
    DescriptionSummarized information on the purpose of the asset.
    ImagesThumbnailThe asset thumbnail image needs to be uploaded; therefore, navigate to the image on your machine.
    BannerThe banner thumbnail image needs to be uploaded; therefore, navigate to the image on your machine.
    TagsTags act as keywords that help to describe the asset. One asset can have more than one tags.

  6. Click Create.
