Creating an Asset

The WSO2 Enterprise Store (WSO2 ES), by default, is shipped with the following two asset types: Gadgets and Sites. However, the Store Back Office (Publisher) empowers you to extend ES, by adding your own customized asset types. For more information, see Adding an Asset Type. In addition, you can also add new assets to the customized or default asset types in ES. The fields involved when adding customized assets will vary based on the nature of the asset.

Follow the instructions below to add a new asset:

  1. Sign into the Publisher.
  2. Click the asset type button.
  3. Click on the asset type you wish to add. For example, if you wish to add a gadget, click Gadgets.

  4. Click Add

  5. Enter all the required fields respective to adding an asset. The fields will vary based on the selected asset type. All the fields respective to the default assets have been described as follows:

    FieldDescription
OverviewProviderThis field is automatically filled in. It displays the username of the user who is adding the asset.
NameThis is the name of the asset. Enter a meaningful name for the asset.
VersionThe version corresponding to the asset. This is useful to the user to differentiate between multiple versions of an asset.
CategoryCategories are high-level groupings of the assets. An asset can have only one category.
URLThe URL of the location where the site/gadget is hosted.
DescriptionSummarized information on the purpose of the asset.
ImagesThumbnailUpload the image that WSO2 ES should use for the asset thumbnail. If an image is not uploaded, the default thumbnail image is used.
BannerUpload the image that WSO2 ES should use for the asset banner. If an image is not uploaded, the default banner image is used.
TagsTags act as keywords that help to describe the asset. For more information, see Working with Tags.

  6. Optionally, if Taxonomy nodes are available for the selected asset type, apply Taxonomy nodes to the asset.
Follow the instructions below to apply a Taxonomy to an asset type:
    1. Click Taxonomy and then click Select Taxonomy.
    2. The taxonomies that are available for the selected asset type appear.
    3. Click on a Taxonomy of your choice.
    4. Click on the respective nodes in the Taxonomy hierarchy to navigate to the respective leaf node that you wish to apply to the asset.

Note the following when adding Taxonomies hierarchies to an asset:

      • Only add an asset to the leaf node.
      • Select multiple nodes from one Taxonomy for a specific asset.
      • Multiple Taxonomies are not allowed for a single asset.
